Isaiah 9 - Wonderful Counselor

2. The people who walk in darkness will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.

6. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.

And He will be called:
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.

New Living Translation (NLT)

My oxygen mask when I'm out of breath.

This verse has such a strong pull on my heart:

'For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.' (Isa 9:6, NLT).

And the funny thing is, I can't really tell you why.

First off, let no one ever convince you Jesus was just a prophet, just a good man. This verse clearly states He is Mighty God, Everlasting Father. Meaning, He is eternal. He always existed, before time and everything was created through Him (John 1:3). And His rule is eternal—it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed (Daniel 7:14).

I just can't wrap my head around the fact that this Mighty God, this King and Ruler, who needs nothing, came to this world as a baby. A tiny, helpless baby. I mean, up until then, God had plenty experience with men. Their pride, their greed, their hunger for war.

But He didn't come as a fierce warrior, but a tiny, helpless baby. Placed Himself willingly at the mercy of people. A child is born, but a Son is GIVEN. He gave Himself, willingly, freely, so He could restore and heal our broken state. Restore the relationship between God and us. For God so loved the world.. (John 3:16).

That is Love, people. With a capital L. Reckless, selfless, unconditional Love.

So, knowing this. Don't ever say or think you're worthless. Not good enough. 'Cause it's a lie. HE thought (and thinks) you're worth it. He gave up everything He had and what He was, for you. You personally.

You know, I was once one of 'the people who walk in darkness' (Isa 9:2). Though, at the time I considered myself 'enlightened'.

He gave it all, so that I could have it all.

He was pierced for my rebellion, crushed for my sins. He was beaten so I could be whole. He was whipped so I could be healed (Isa 53:5).

And like the Father says in Luke 15:31 to His son: "all I have is yours".

That's just too much... What else can I say, but thank You, Jesus. Thank You, thank You beautiful Jesus.

I am yours forever ❤️
