Isaiah 61 - Spring Garden
1. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
2. He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.
10. I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God!
For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation
and draped me in a robe of righteousness.
I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding
or a bride with her jewels.
11. Everyone will praise him!
His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring,
with plants springing up everywhere.

Did you know, this is probably the very first scripture Jesus read in public according to the Bible? (Luke 4: 16-17)
After the temptation in the desert with the devil, Jesus returned victoriously with the Holy Spirit's power.
Then He went to Nazareth, stood up in the synagogue and read this Isaiah 61:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free" (Luke 4:18 NLT)
As I already told you guys before, it's amazing how much Jesus there is in the book of Isaiah. I love it! To think that this prophet lived around 700 years before Jesus was born!
It gives me goosebumps to realise that Jesus read this 700 years after this was prophesied. He knew that. He had been waiting for that moment all His life! And the people present probably didn't realise they were part of an extraordinary moment in history.
But the angels knew it, they must've been dancing and praising God in that synagogue! Beside themselves with joy, cheering Jesus on!
Wow..
When I was singing and recording this song, I realised I was singing these very words. The words of Isaiah, the words of Jesus. It filled me with a deep reverence and awe.
And now I too, like you, can say: the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring good news.
Now do as Jesus did! 🔥🙌
