Feet. Not necessarily the most appealing part of the body. Certainly not a very inspiring thing to write a song about.

Yet, without them, we would get nowhere. 'How beautiful are the feet of the Messenger..'

In a time without internet, phones, newspapers..if you wanted to send or spread a message, you depended on your own two feet, or maybe the four feet of a horse or donkey.

These verses are not only about the restoration of Jerusalem. It's the announcement of THE Messenger. Jesus, the Son of God. All of creation was waiting on Him to arrive!

Have you noticed how many times God speaks about clearing the way, leveling mountains (Isa 45), removing boulders on God's highway (Isa 62) ?

I like to think it's because when walking on God's road, you don't have time to look down. When your eyes are fixed on Him, when you're praising God, maybe do a little dance, you want a clear road, so you don't trip and fall.

For Jesus to share the good news of Peace and Salvation He had to travel around.

For us to spread the good news, we better not only use our mouth, but use our feet to get to and be with people in their time of need. To not only tell them the good news, but actually show them the good news.

And yes, washing their feet would be a nice start ;)
