Ephesians 3 - To the Father (How Deep His Love is)

14. When I think of all this,
I fall to my knees and pray to the Father

15. the Creator of everything
in heaven and on earth.

16. I pray that from his glorious riches,
He will empower you
with inner strength through his Spirit.

17. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts
as you trust in Him.

Your roots will grow down into God’s love
and keep you strong.

18. May you have the power to understand,
as all God’s people should,
how wide, how long, how high, and deep his love is.

19. May you experience the love of Christ,
though it is too great to understand fully.

Then you will be made complete
with all the fullness of God,
of life and power that comes from God.

20. All glory to God,
who is able, through his mighty power at work within us,
to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

21. Glory to God in the church!
Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus!
Glory down all the generations!
Glory through all millennia!

Amen.

Forever and ever!

Words from the New Living Translation (NLT)

Verse 16: 'riches' New International Version (NIV)

Verse 19: 'fullness of God' New King James Version (NKJV)

Verse 21: the Message Translation (MSG)

Have you met my wife?

I've told you guys before about Project of Love being God's own pizzeria. But for those who missed it, when I said 'Yes' to God, we talked for days on end. In one of those conversations, I said, "Papa, if we're gonna do this, then I'm not just gonna talk about how wonderful You are. Talk is cheap. I could talk about You till I'm blue in the face, but people need to experience You, all of You."

So let me hand out delicious pizza slices of Your Love. This way, people can taste and see for themselves how great You really are. Like a modern rendering of Psalm 34:8: "Taste and see that the Lord is good." 😉

I was thinking at the time about Jesus when I said this. I mean, heal a person of blindness, and you're done; what else is there to talk about? That person just got a pizza slice and experienced God's love firsthand!

Little did I know that two years later He would give me Project of Love. With this project, we get to hand out delicious pizza slices all around the world! Using God's own words, we are handing out His love. And you know the best part of it? Those songs heal people all around the world. Physically, mentally, emotionally—it's breathtaking. All those people experience God's Love.

And that's what these beautiful verses in Ephesians 3:14-21 are all about: to EXPERIENCE the Love of God. The Greek word in verse 19, which is translated 'know' in most translations, actually means knowledge that comes from experience.

And that makes perfect sense! God IS Love (1 John 4:16).

Love, my sweet brothers and sisters, is a Person! And how else can you get to know this person, this Love, other than through experience?

You say, really?

Suppose you said to me, "Have you met my wife?"

And I'd answer you, "Yes, I have read her book!"

Then you'd be right to assume I don't really know the first thing about her.

Same with God: you can read His book, and it tells you a lot about Him, but to really KNOW Him, you will have to experience Him.

That's what Paul prays for here, for you and me: to experience the love of Christ.

And when you've tasted THAT pizza, man, you can only, like Paul in verse 14, fall to your knees and thank Him. The God of Love ❤️
