New Living Translation (NLT)

You know, people sometimes say, I don't really care for the God in the Old Testament.

As if God somehow cleaned up really wel in the New Testament. He's one and the same.

Jesus says, if you've seen me, you've seen the Father. Jesus would only do what He saw the Father do.

And in this Psalm 81 it's so abundantly clear that God wants to bless you. Not a little, not just enough, but lavishly, abundantly!

He says, give me your troubles, I will take the load from your shoulders (like Jesus in NT).

Like in Deut 30:19, He says choose life! Listen to me and follow me, I will give you life (like Jesus).

He goes on to say: open your mouth, WIDE! There's the abundance again. Open it wide, so I can fill it with good things. You can even use your hands to open it wider still ;)

And He will satisfy you with wild honey. You know what honey symbolizes in the Bible? Prosperity and abundance.

That's a Father who wants you well. Better than well. He wants you to thrive.

But here's the thing. In order to receive, you have to open your mouth. Before the good things happen. That's your act of faith. That's you showing God, I know who You are: you're a good, good Father.

Now grab your tambourine and beat that thing silly! 😜
