We all know how important it is to be the salt and light in the world. But sometimes Scripture can feel so familiar it stops moving us. That’s why I love how The Message translation phrases it:

“You're here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth... You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world... Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!”

Wow, isn’t that beautiful? “God-flavors” and “God-colors” — what a way to describe our calling to reflect Him in all we do.

To clarify: I don’t only read The Message. I explore many translations daily — KJV, NKJV, NLT, even Greek and Hebrew — but The Message stirs my heart in a fresh way. If you’ve ever struggled with Bible translations, maybe give it a shot! (No, I don’t have any stock in it. 😉) As a matter of fact, The Message doesn't even know we exist..
